Experienced Sedation Dentistry
We understand that dental anxiety is a common concern for many patients, even when they are experiencing tooth pain or oral discomfort. However, it is never a good idea to put off dental treatment out of fear, as issues will likely worsen and require more extensive treatment in the future. To make your dental appointments anxiety free and nearly painless, we offer effective sedation dentistry. Dr. Richard Weimar believes that sedation can help patients receive the care they desperately need and has performed over 2,000 sedation treatments! Our sedation options combined with our passion and technology allow you to receive the care you need without having to fear your appointments.
Candidates for Sedation
- Bad past dental experiences
- Fear of needles
- Sensitive gag reflex
- Extensive upcoming dental procedures
Sedation Made Easy with The Wand®
While sedation does help patients ease their fears and receive care without pain, we have taken the extra steps to provide additional comforts with The Wand® anesthesia delivery system. This is a computer-controlled device that administers the precise amount of anesthesia needed to numb a surgery site without causing discomfort or residual numbing of the surrounding area. An additional benefit to using The Wand is that it does not use any large needles that may frighten patients. Anesthesia is delivered via an ultra-fine point that causes virtually no pain itself.
Our Sedation Dentistry Options
Oral SedationOral sedation puts patients into a sleepy state during the procedure. Administered in pill form a few hours before treatment, patients will be able to respond to commands, but will likely not remember the procedure. The effects of oral sedation typically last after treatment, so you will need someone to take you home.
Local AnestheticUsed in conjunction with other forms of sedation, local anesthetic blocks sensations of pain or discomfort. By injecting the anesthesia at the treatment site, it will numb the location during procedures. Patients commonly report only feeling slight pressure at treated locations of the mouth.
