Qualify for Dental Implants with Bone Grafting

BONE GRAFTING RESTORES LOST BONE VOLUME

If you are considering dental implants to replace missing teeth, you need to have adequate bone volume in your jaw to support the implant post. However, after tooth loss has occurred, the jaw bone is no longer stimulated by the tooth roots and will begin to deteriorate and become thinner. This can cause complications like shifting teeth, an altered bite and can even give you an older appearance! At Weimar Family Dentistry we offer bone grafting treatment that can rebuild the bone that you have lost and help qualify you for dental implants. Once you have adequate bone, we can both place and restore your dental implants with life-like dental crowns all in our office.

THE BONE GRAFTING PROCESS

Bone grafting is vital to the success of dental implants, so you deserve to get the ideal care needed to protect your implant investment. Dr. Richard Weimar has Advanced Bone Grafting training from the prestigious Pikos Institute so that we can offer progressive forms of bone grafting treatment to restore your jaw. The process involves taking a sample of bone from you or a donor source and converting it to bone granules. These granules are then precisely placed at the site of recession and allowed to heal. The bone graft material will encourage bone to grow to the proper volume necessary for implants.

Our Bone Grafting Procedures

SINUS LIFT

When the back upper molars have been lost, it presents a challenge to placing implants. Due to the sinus cavity residing just above the bone in that area, there is often little volume to support an implant post. Dr. Richard Weimar offers advanced sinus lift treatment to access the sinus cavity and place bone graft material to create the required volume. After a sinus lift, dental implants are able to be placed in this area.

RIDGE AUGMENTATION

If you have had missing teeth for some time, have received oral trauma, or have an ill-fitting denture, the bone in the jaw may be uneven. This can create an unattractive appearance as well as make it difficult to replace the missing teeth. By placing a bone graft material along the ridge, we can even out the jaw line and restore the bone volume.

SOCKET PRESERVATION

After tooth extraction, an empty socket is left behind where the tooth roots once were. Without adding bone grafting material to this area, recession will occur and hinder the ability to receive dental implants down the road. We can preserve your tooth socket so if you choose to receive implants at some time, your bone loss will be minimal, allowing for successful placement.

GUIDED TISSUE REGENERATION

When performing a bone graft it is important to protect the grafting material to allow it to heal properly. Guided tissue regeneration involves placing a biocompatible membrane over the bone granules to keep them in place and prevent gum tissue from interfering with the healing process. This will ensure that your graft has the optimum chance for success.
