Professional teeth whitening isn’t one-size-fits-all. At Weimar Family & Implant Dentistry, patients choose between two Opalescence-based approaches depending on how fast they want results and how much daily involvement they’re willing to put in.
The practice uses only professional-strength Opalescence solutions, not the over-the-counter strips available at a drugstore. That stronger formulation, combined with custom-fitted trays, is a big part of why professional whitening tends to outperform what you can buy yourself.
Dr. Weimar uses an intraoral camera to map your teeth precisely, then creates a tray built specifically to hold the whitening gel against your teeth. Wear time depends on the strength of solution and how dramatic a change you’re going for.
This version uses prefilled, disposable trays rather than a custom-fitted mold. You wear them for 15 to 60 minutes a day, which makes it a convenient option if you’d rather skip the fitting appointment.
Some patients notice a visible difference in as little as 5 days, with more dramatic results typically appearing within a few weeks of consistent use. That timeline depends on your starting shade, the type of staining involved, and how consistently you follow the regimen.
Whitening brightens natural enamel, but it won’t change the shade of existing fillings or crowns. If you have visible restorations and are planning to whiten, it’s worth asking whether they’ll need to be replaced to match your new shade.
For deeper, more stubborn staining that whitening alone won’t resolve, porcelain veneers are an option, and can often be completed in as few as two appointments.
Both routes get you a brighter smile, just on different timelines and with different levels of hands-on involvement. Schedule a consultation and Dr. Weimar can help you decide which approach fits your goals.
